What is laminated glass?

Laminated glass —
two or more glass layers
bonded by an interlayer.

Laminated glass — also known as laminate glass or VSG (Verbundsicherheitsglas) — consists of two or more glass panes permanently bonded by a thermoplastic interlayer. When broken, the shards remain adhered to the interlayer, preventing dangerous flying fragments.

The choice of interlayer determines the performance: standard PVB for safety, acoustic PVB for noise reduction, EVA for moisture resistance, SentryGlas® (SGP) for structural applications under high loads, and DG41 for exceptional optical clarity.

EN 14449 CE-certified PVB / EVA / SGP / DG41 EN 356 burglar-resistant
Interlayer options
PVB standard & acoustic — most widely used
SGP SentryGlas® — 5× stronger than PVB
DG41 superior clarity & optical quality
EVA moisture-resistant — suitable for wet applications
Our added value

Why GIGAglas
for laminated glass?

We supply laminated glass with the right interlayer for your application — combined with tempered glass, coatings or screen printing. No standard solutions, but precision to specification.

Safety retention on breakage

Shards remain bonded to the interlayer. No danger from flying glass fragments — conforming to EN 12600 class 1B1, essential for all walkway and overhead applications.

Acoustic sound insulation

Acoustic PVB (e.g. Vanceva Sound, Trosifol SC) reduces sound by up to 52 dB Rw — measurable added value for office facades, residential towers and noise-sensitive projects.

Burglar resistance P1A–P8B

Laminated glass significantly delays penetration. We supply certified classes per EN 356 — from P1A (basic protection) to P8B (attack resistance) for security-sensitive buildings.

Solar control & UV protection

Coloured PVB interlayers (Vanceva Colors) filter UV radiation up to 99% and provide solar control without external shading. Ideal for museums, archives and climate-sensitive spaces.

Partner factories

GIGAglas has extensive buying relationships with manufacturers worldwide. As a wholesaler, we combine laminated glass with tempering, coatings and screen printing in a single production step — certified with DoP, CE marking and test reports.

Applications

Laminated glass
for every
application.

From roof glazing to floor glass, from acoustic facades to burglar-resistant display cases — laminated glass is the most versatile safety glazing solution in the architectural sector.

Balustrades & railings
Laminated glass as a safety barrier on balconies, terraces and stairwell openings. SGP interlayer for clamped fixing without framing (frameless balustrade).
Roof glazing & curtain walls
Overhead laminated glass for skylights, glass roofs and curtain walls per NEN-EN 14019. Shards remain bonded to the interlayer on breakage — no falling glass.
Floor glazing & walkways
Walkable glass per NEN-EN 1051 for showrooms, bridges and spectacular floor applications. SGP interlayer for structural strength under point loads.
Acoustic facades
Double or triple glazing with acoustic PVB for maximum sound insulation. We supply laminated glass in combination with insulating glazing (high-performance glass).
Security glass
P-class laminated glass per EN 356 for banks, jewellers, embassies and government buildings. Multiple layers for combined mechanical and ballistic resistance.
Coloured glazing & design
Coloured Vanceva PVB interlayers for architectural colour play, privacy and branding. Available in hundreds of colours — including gradual transitions within a single panel.
